Lake Mountain School District (LMSD) has announced $2.1 million in grants and contributions from Meta to support students and the district’s long-term facility needs as LMSD prepares to begin operations in July 2027.
The partnership includes a $600,000 grant for land acquisition and a $1.5 million commitment to the Lake Mountain Education Foundation, along with an ongoing annual contribution of $50,000 to the Foundation.
“This partnership represents an important investment in the future of our students and our community,” said Julie King, President of the Lake Mountain School District Board of Education.
Planning Today for Future Schools
The $600,000 grant will allow LMSD to acquire approximately three acres of property, representing about 30% of the land needed for a future elementary school site.
Lake Mountain School District serves some of Utah’s fastest-growing communities. Securing property early is an important part of the district’s long-term planning, helping LMSD prepare for future enrollment growth while managing costs and protecting taxpayer resources.
“Securing land early is essential to building neighborhood schools that keep pace with our growing community,” King said. “Meta’s $600,000 grant allows us to take proactive, strategic steps today so that we can be better prepared to provide the facilities our students will need in the years ahead.”
Investing Directly in Students
Meta has also committed $1.5 million to the Lake Mountain Education Foundation. With the construction milestone for an expanded data center facility in Eagle Mountain now reached, the contribution will be made to the Foundation before December 31, 2026.
Meta has also committed to providing the Foundation with an ongoing $50,000 annual contribution.
Foundation resources will support initiatives that directly enhance student learning experiences, including early childhood literacy, one of Lake Mountain School District’s foundational priorities.
“This investment puts additional resources directly into opportunities for our students,” Superintendent Vicki Carter said. “We are grateful for Meta’s commitment to Lake Mountain School District and its willingness to explore innovative ways to meet student needs. Their support aligns closely with our focus on building strong foundations for learning and expanding partnerships that can help every student succeed.”
David Williams, Meta’s Community Engagement Manager, emphasized the importance of investing early in the district and the surrounding community.
“Lake Mountain isn't waiting for growth to catch up to them. Securing land at today's prices stretches every dollar the district will spend on schools tomorrow — and keeps the bill lower for local families,” Williams said.
Since breaking ground in Eagle Mountain in 2018, Meta has contributed more than $5 million to schools, nonprofits and community organizations across the area.
Supporting Students Across All Three Districts
The partnership extends beyond Lake Mountain School District.
As part of the transition to three new school districts, the Lake Mountain School District Board of Education also negotiated an additional $10,000 contribution to Aspen Peaks School District and $10,000 to Timpanogos School District. The funds will support student scholarships and other opportunities in those communities.
“We want to see three strong school districts serving students well,” King said. “Supporting students shouldn’t stop at district boundaries. We appreciate Meta’s willingness to invest in students throughout the communities we serve and to recognize that the success of each of these districts strengthens the entire region.”
The partnership reflects LMSD’s commitment to working with community and business partners to expand opportunities for students while maintaining responsible financial stewardship and planning for the district’s long-term growth.
Lake Mountain School District will begin operations on July 1, 2027, serving Cedar Fort, Eagle Mountain, Fairfield and Saratoga Springs. The district is projected to serve more than 26,000 students and approximately 3,000 employees.
