Dear Black Ridge Parents and Guardians,
Home and school partnerships are an important way to support student learning. As we
work to mutually understand our students’ learning needs and next steps, we can partner
in creating action plans that will help your children succeed. One way we can come
together is through Parent/Teacher Conferences . Our fall Parent/Teacher Conferences will
take place October 6-7, 2021. Times slots are available on both days between 4:00-7:20 PM,
though Chinese Immersion teachers have extended days to accommodate their class needs.
To schedule conference times, most teachers will use the conference scheduler feature of
Skyward, the district’s student data system. Using your Skyward Family Access login, you
can reserve conference appointments right from a computer or mobile device.

Reserving Conference Times in Skyward Family Access
If you do not have access to a computer or other internet-ready device, you may contact
your child’s teacher directly to schedule your conference time(s). If you do not have a
functioning Skyward account, please contact the school secretaries at 801-610-
8729. Please note that if you have more than one child, it is helpful to leave a space between
each appointment to accommodate any back-ups that may occur.
We are preparing for in-person conferences this year. However, we recognize that due to
the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, some individuals may prefer a virtual appointment rather
than an in-person conference. A virtual appointment may also be more conducive to certain
family’s work schedules. We are happy to accommodate such needs, and teachers are
willing to schedule virtual conference appointments as needed. Our teachers will plan on
in-person conference appointments unless they hear from a parent that a virtual
appointment is desired. When a virtual appointment is requested, teachers will send out
the needed information to access the virtual meeting.
Concerning in-person conferences, please do not come into the school if you are experiencing
symptoms of illness, if you are in isolation or quarantine, or if there has been a positive
COVID-19 diagnosis of someone living in your home. If there is a sudden need to change
your conference from an in-person to a virtual appointment, please contact your child’s
teacher.
Lastly, we are happy to again host a Book Fair at Black Ridge Elementary during the week
of Parent/Teacher Conferences. The fair will be open during both nights of Parent/Teacher
conferences (October 6-7) from 4:00-7:30 PM. Students will also be able to attend the Book
Fair during their regularly scheduled library times throughout the week of October 4-
7. This is a wonderful way to add to your home library while supporting our school library.
